Each operator is required to report railway occurrences to the Railway Safety Regulator. The RSR has categorised these occurrences into 12 categories to enable both operators and the RSR to focus on interventions to address negative or unacceptably high occurrence trends.
The purpose of this manual is to guide all Railway Operators to accurately record and report occurrences in a consistent manner by using prescribed templates according
to the requirements of the Railway Safety Regulator as well as to accommodate the new reporting procedures in accordance to the revision of the South African National
Standard (SANS 3000 -1) latest edition
