The National Information and Monitoring System (NIMS) simplifies the process of applying for a new safety permit or renewing your existing permit. NIMS was established as an effective monitoring mechanism and source of up-to-date rail safety information. Embracing the new normal through innovative and sustainable rail safety solutions. The Annual Rail Safety Conference (ARSC), to be hosted by the Railway Safety Regulator (RSR), provides a platform where industry stakeholders can come together to exchange experiences, solutions and lessons for improving railway safety. The ARSC continues to be a conducive forum for rail stakeholders to engage and collaborate on endeavours that will create safe, efficient and reliable solutions to address the emerging risks within the South African railway industry and beyond. Hosted under the theme “Embracing the new normal through innovative and sustainable rail safety solutions”, this year’s conference will be held virtually, at no cost to-, from 29 September-01 October 2021 and will feature presentations from local and international rail experts from various disciplines. Mr Africa Melane
Presenter, CapeTalk and Radio 702Africa Melane is the host of the Early Breakfast Show on CapeTalk and 702. In this role, he has interviewed leading personalities, business leaders, politicians, thought leaders, community activists and religious leaders from both South Africa and abroad. His real joy is derived from engaging with fellow South Africans on matters that are important to them.
Africa Melane studied accounting at the University of Cape Town and went on to do his articles at PwC. He then went on to teach a professional development course to first year students at the Faculty of Health Sciences at the University of Cape Town.
Africa Melane serves as the vice chairperson on the board of Cape Town Opera, Africa’s premier opera company. He also filled the position of interim managing director for five months in 2020. He also chairs the panel of judges for the Fleur du Cap Theatre Awards, South Africa’s oldest and most prestigious theatre awards which reward excellence in professional theatres staged and performed in Cape Town.
