The National Information and Monitoring System (NIMS) simplifies the process of applying for a new safety permit or renewing your existing permit. NIMS was established as an effective monitoring mechanism and source of up-to-date rail safety information.
New operators must apply three months before operation. New operators will not be granted a safety permit. In the case of existing operators, if the audit reveals safety compliance issues, there are three possible outcomes.
