Taking safety education to schools in Limpopo

As part of our safety awareness initiatives during the October Transport Month, the Railway Safety Regulator (RSR) will be in Limpopo on 28 October 2020 to speak to leaners of Lekota,  Mamphoku and Ranti Secondary schools, respectively. Even though schools are on recess currently, learners from these schools are taking part in a rail safety awareness campaign, under the theme: “Train your mind to mind the train”.

All three schools are situated in the rural village of Marobala approximately 40 kilometres outside Polokwane and have a freight rail network traversing through the area. Key messages that will be shared with the learners centre around level crossing safety and the dangers of encroaching the rail reserve.

In line with the COVID-19 regulations, learners will comply with social distancing and will be provided with reusable cloth masks. Sanitary towels will also be donated to girl learners.
