The National Rail Safety Communicators Forum is a collaborative platform established by the Railway Safety Regulator to bring together communication and stakeholder engagement professionals from across the rail sector.
The Forum provides an opportunity for rail stakeholders to collaborate on railway safety communication, education and awareness initiatives, share information and coordinate campaigns that promote safer behaviour across the railway environment. By bringing communicators together, the Forum supports a more coordinated approach to rail safety messaging, reduces duplication of efforts and enables stakeholders to extend the reach and impact of safety campaigns.
The Rail Industry Awards are an initiative of the Railway Safety Regulator (RSR) established to recognise and celebrate individuals, organisations and initiatives making an outstanding contribution to the advancement of the railway sector.
The Awards provide a platform to celebrate excellence, promote innovation, share best practices and strengthen collaboration across the rail industry. They recognise achievements in areas including safety, operational excellence, asset management, training, research, environmental sustainability, security, transformation and leadership.
The 2026 Rail Industry Awards will bring together leaders, professionals and stakeholders from across the railway sector to celebrate those who are helping to build a safer, smarter and more sustainable railway industry in South Africa and the region.
The Awards also shine a light on the individuals and teams whose contribution often happens behind the scenes, recognising their role in keeping railway operations safe, reliable and efficient.

The RSR undertakes education and awareness initiatives to promote understanding of railway safety and encourage a strong safety culture across the railway environment. These initiatives engage industry, government, communities, municipalities, road users, learners and other relevant stakeholders.
Through awareness campaigns, educational programmes, community outreach and targeted stakeholder engagements, the RSR provides information on railway safety risks, responsibilities and safe practices. These initiatives support greater awareness, encourage responsible behaviour and contribute to the prevention of railway safety incidents.
